On July 16, announcements were made by oil and gas company Royal Dutch Shell and Scottish Power, a subsidiary of Spanish power company Iberdrola. They say they are jointly submitting proposals to British authorities for the world's first large-scale floating wind farm off the coast of Scotland. The largest floating farm so far is a 50MW six-turbine plant due to be completed next month in the North Sea, 15km from Aberdeen. On the other hand, the consortium said it is considering units of gigawatts (GW).
