It used to be an abandoned sawmill surrounded by sugar cane fields.But since oil was discovered off the coast of Guyana in 2015, the 52-hectare site in the capital, George Town, has grown into the country largest logistics hub.From this waterfront location, the Guyana shore base serves US oil major ExxonMobil and other foreign companies drilling for oil off the Caribbean coast.The ships docked at two main berths along the Demerara River to unload maintenance equipment and deliver supplies to hundreds of workers toiling on offshore oil rigs.
