Over the next three days, China sent 111 more planes. In response, Taiwan sent jets, broadcast warnings and used missile systems to pursue the Chinese aircraft. Taiwan's defense minister, Qiu Guozheng, called it "the most difficult situation I have encountered in my more than 40 years of military life."
