Giant orbs rest on the desolate ridge of Labrador's Kigrapet Point, one on a tower and two on the ground, like a fallen snowman abandoned by giants. Each is a radome that houses a radar antenna that propagates invisible waves across the Labrador Sea. They are the electromechanical sentinels of the Arctic. Stretching from Labrador to the northern edge of the Canadian Territory, from Labrador to the Yukon and then to Alaska, Kiglapait Station and its many siblings form a picket line known as the Northern Warning System, or NW (see map).
